Youth

VSA arts of New Hampshire provides artist residencies in visual arts, music, dance, literary arts, and theatre for over 550 students with disabilities in alternative and public school programs each year. Teaching artists work with educators in core curriculum classrooms and link residency activities with the New Hampshire Curriculum Standards and the Arts Education Frameworks.

"I like the rhythm of weaving. This is the only thing that keeps me coming to school."
     - Jason, 15

Jason wove in the Saori Weaving studio in Littleton, a program of VSA arts of NH in collaboration with NH State Department of Education. He is now attending school regularly and doing well. His weaving was featured at the 2001 Governor's Arts Awards celebration held in Concord.

"I started to change."
     - Steve, 13, a student at Spaulding Youth Center
